Busy Weekend!

I took Friday off to go shopping!  I have been looking for new chairs for my kitchen and after much searching and pricing I found something close to what I wanted at Cost Plus World Market. The only problem was the closest store is an hour away from my house!  I borrowed an SUV (thanks Aunt Rosalie), loaded up my mom and headed out. I forgot all the fun stuff Cost Plus has! I spent more than I had planned but had a great time doing it!

I swore to myself that I would stay home and work on my yard this weekend and it was perfect weather!  I seeded bare spots, planted pots, a flower bed and lettuce, trimmed bushes, cleaned out beds in the front of the house and got a pedicure! :D  I am up at the butt crack of dawn on the weekends anyway so I headed out to Home Depot and beat all the other crazy yarders to get my mulch.  If you live in my area, Randazzo's on 13 Mile/Schoenherr has great prices and a nice selection of hanging baskets and porch pots.  I still have to put the mulch out, trim more bushes, level the water fountain, split hostas, buy and plant tomatoes and figure out what I am going to plant in a 6 foot long bare spot I created (Aunt Diane?).  My back yard is tiny but has just enough room to keep me puttering for the summer.  After all this I am starting on the garage sale!

Now that it is warm out the time seems to fly. I am trying to slow down to enjoy it a bit ..but see above!

Have a Happy Memorial Day weekend!

I bought a bike!

Isnt' she the cutest thing?  Her name is Mickey and I giggled like a little kid riding her this weekend. I think it was the streamers blowing in the wind!  She is an Electra Townie. http://www.electrabike.com/ They have some really cute bikes but I liked this one. I added the basket, bell and streamers and off we went!

So this week's post is pretty random since I haven't posted anything in a few weeks.  My trip to Key West was wonderful. The weather was perfect with only one day of rain. We snorkeled on a Rum and Reggae sunset cruise, spent time on the beach and did a "Pub Crawl".  It was a hoot. This funny guy walked about 20 of us around to 5 different bars in downtown Key West and we all had drinks and then off to the next bar!  I think the crawl part described what we did the next morning getting out of bed!

I spent most of the weekend in the yard cleaning up and getting my raised beds ready for veggies.  I have two 4x8 beds but I don't think I am going to use both of them this year. I may only plant a couple tomatoes, peppers and lettuce and then fill the other bed with cutting flowers.  The grass in the back yard looks pretty crappy so I am going to fill it in with some seed.  I also have to clean out the bed in front of my arborvitae wall and plant something in there that I don't have to take care of.  I need to replace a few pavers in the walkway that goes from my patio to the side of the house and I am thinking of getting rid of a few bushes in the front. Whew, that is more work than I thought I was doing...

The big garage sale will be June 22.  I need tables. If you have a long table that you can let me use for a few weeks please send me a message on Facebook.  It will take me a couple weekends to set this mess up and I will be looking for help. :D

I spent the entire weekend shredding papers!  Bob was his mom's conservator for the years she was in a nursing home and the amount of paper that generated was staggering.  Bob also had a bunch of paper, mostly medical. I really didn't realize how much until I started shredding.   I put the shredder in the living room and used it during every commercial for 3 days.  I threw out 10 tall kitchen garbage bags of shredding in Monday!!!

Happy Mother's Day to all!
